Training

Training is a key component of State Guard Service.  We assiduously prepare to respond to any emergency within the State of Tennessee so that we are able to perform our assigned strategic, operational, and tactical missions.

All State Guardsmen are required to obtain CERT certification within their first year of duty.   This involves a combination of classroom study and field training.

We train to build leadership.  Competent and confident leaders are a prerequisite to the successful training of ready units.  Leader training and leader development are integral parts of our unit readiness.  Leaders are inherently soldiers first and should be technically and tactically proficient in basic soldier skills. They are also adaptive, capable of sensing their environment, adjusting the plan when appropriate, and properly applying the proficiency acquired through training.

Unless otherwise warranted, an Honorable Discharge will be granted.
