CSM Tiscia as a Marine Cpl. fought in the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Silver Star, Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense, Vietnam Service, Vietnam Campaign, Navy Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, Vietnamese Civic Action Award. He is credited with saving the lives of two wounded Marines and knocking out a NVA machine gun position during Operation Hue City on 7 February 1968. He was wounded in this action and spent 4 months in various Naval Hospitals. He was discharged at NAS Memphis on 24 May 1968.
He is married to wife Barbara for 43 years and has 2 grown daughters Lainie and Lauren. He is retired having worked 41 years with the US Dept of Agriculture.
CSM Tiscia joined the TNSG after the 911 attack on the United States. He has served as S-3 NCOIC, and acting CSM of the 105th Bn and has been 1st Sgt for the Regiment. His last position was CSM of the 1st Bn. He was promoted to Regimental CSM as of 1 January 2009. His highest State Guard honor has been the Alvin C. York award.
He is active in most veteran organizations in the Memphis area and has given a number of speeches to veteran groups informing them of the virtues of the TNSG. His main goal is to serve the needs of the CO of the 1st regiment, to mentor and to motivate the troops, and to help out in recruiting.
